This report (40 pages) profiles caregivers through the lens of age and gender and the support they provided in Quebec in 2018. It draws on a compilation carried out by the Institut de la statistique du Québec (ISQ) based on the Statistics Canada 2018 General Social Survey (GSS) – Caregiving and Care Receiving. The first part of the report looks at the demographic characteristics of caregivers based on age and gender (employment situation, relationship with the care receiver). The second part analyzes the support provided, again according to age and gender (types of support activities, number of hours devoted to them). Overall, the analysis helps bring to light the diversity of caregiving situations in Quebec as well as certain issues.
