National Caregivers Week 2026: Growing Up with the Responsibility of Care

To mark National Caregivers Week 2026, the Observatory is launching an awareness campaign focused on young caregivers.

30 October 2026

Caring for a person can begin earlier than we think. In Quebec, 13.4% of caregivers are between the ages of 15 and 29. To mark National Caregivers Week 2026, the Quebec Observatory on Caregiving will launch the “Growing Up with the Responsibility of Care” campaign on November 2 to raise awareness of this reality among the general public, practitioners and professionals.

To do so, the campaign will draw on four videos adapted from the “Let’s Talk About It?” comic series. They will offer a look at caregiving at different stages of life, from childhood through the transition to adulthood, as well as the role of family members and others close to young caregivers.

In addition, the campaign’s webpage will feature a selection of tools and resources for different audiences, including families and friends, school staff, practitioners and professionals, as well as young people, to help them better recognize and understand young caregiving and better support young people who are caregivers.
