Bulletin de veille scientifique en proche aidance 2025

The latest edition of the scientific watch bulletin on caregiving is now available online! This annual overview looks at the themes, key findings, trends and practices emerging from the scientific literature published in Quebec in 2025.

This issue brings together 49 scientific articles. Here are some highlights:

    • Most of the studies (82%) were conducted in Canada; of these, 67.5% took place in Quebec
    • Parent caregivers were the focus of 41% of the studies
    • The conditions most frequently addressed were associated with aging (Alzheimer’s, dementia, etc.), followed by cancer and neurodevelopmental disorders (autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, epilepsy)
    • Several studies advocate for a genuine partnership model of care based on shared decision-making, in which professionals co-develop intervention goals with the caregivers rather than imposing standardized objectives
    • The articles highlight that several interventions can improve the quality of life for caregivers, including improved organization of care and services, access to psychosocial services, access to information, community support, and the implementation of institutional policies

Beyond these findings, the report highlights the main themes around which the studies are organized: caregiver involvement in care and service delivery, quality of life in the caregiving dyad, care and service navigation, and the relational experience in caregiving.

Finally, the bulletin provides a summary of the findings and their implications for practice.
