This research brief (1 page, in French) introduces an action research project undertaken as part of Bien veillir chez soi, an aging-in-place initiative. The project supports the rollout of flexible respite services in Quebec’s Bas-Saint-Laurent region and assess the outcomes. In particularly, it aims to expand the respite options available to the caregivers of older adults with neurocognitive disorders through the creation of a program, Une communauté tissée serrée pour du répit flexible au Bas-Saint-Laurent (2023–2026).
As part of the project, a briefing note (3 pages, in French) highlights the main findings from the flexible respite program launched in August 2024 by the Centre d’Action bénévole de La Mitis. Respite services are available during the day, in the evening and on weekends, delivered by volunteers (students and community members).
