This infographic provides a statistical snapshot of Canadian caregivers aged 15 and older who simultaneously provide unpaid care to people under 15 years of age and to people aged 15 and up with a long-term condition, disability or aging-related problem. It includes data on the age groups and genders of these so-called “sandwich” caregivers, their relationship to the care recipient and the negative impacts of caregiving on their lives.
The data on which the infographic is based are from the 2022 Canadian Social Survey – Well-being and Caregiving and the 2023 paper, Canada’s Care Economy: A Conceptual Framework.
