This webinar (16 min) looks at the global role of caregivers in sustaining the care ecosystem. Dr. Norah Keating discusses how families and caregivers position themselves in relation to both state-provided care and the care that is available within the global economy. She then examines the social contract of caregiving and concludes by underscoring the need to consider family identity and structure when designing support for caregivers.

The webinar first aired as part of Empowering Futures (April 29 and 30, 2024), a symposium organized jointly by the Middle East and North Africa Research on Ageing Healthy (MENARHA) and International Association of Gerontology & Geriatrics.
