This report (116 pages) and its accompanying summary (12 pages) make the case for a national caregiving strategy in Canada. Developed by the Canadian Centre for Caregiving Excellence, it contains actionable public policy solutions to address the biggest challenges faced by caregivers, care recipients and care providers across the country.
The document outlines five key areas of action:
- Improving supports, programs and services for caregivers
- Supporting caregivers in the workforce and education
- Financially supporting care recipients
- Building a sustainable care provider workforce
- Showing leadership and recognition
Its recommendations are based on a broad-based consultation process conducted with caregivers, a National Care Champions Table consisting of invited experts, focus groups and an online consultation form. The document also builds on the CCCE’s previous work.
