This report (22 pages, in French) looks into the question of developing a respite service tailored to the specific needs of indigenous caregivers in the Uashat Mak Mani-Utenam community. The proposed practice model fully integrates the principles of Innu culture and seeks to create a space where caregivers can recharge in an environment that honours their cultural identity, enabling them to receive the support they need in keeping with their traditions.
Developed by and for community members, the practice aims to inspire and encourage concrete actions in the field as well as allow the initiative to be replicated elsewhere. Individual experiences and user feedback will also help adapt and continuously improve the practice.
