This report (41 pages) examines the effects of migration on the level of informal care provided by children to their senior parents in Western Europe. The burden of caregiving in immigrant communities is analyzed through the lenses of gender and education.
The findings are based on data from the Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE) in 2013, 2015, 2019 and 2020. The sample included 6,463 daughters and 6,407 sons from 4,517 parents.
