Ce guide (38 pages, in French) offers a practical self-assessment tool through which organizations working with the caregivers of older adults can compare their practices and services to current promising practices in terms of information and training. Created to better meet the needs of caregivers in Quebec, it promotes continuous improvement among all caregiving stakeholders in the public, associative, community and private sectors. The self-assessment component includes‎ 12 statements inspired by promising practices in Quebec, published scientific studies, general parameters validated by L’Appui pour les proches aidants, and information and training needs expressed by caregivers during consultation. It is based on action research carried out by the Centre d’expertise en santé de Sherbrooke‎ at the authors’ request.

The guide and its user manual can be downloaded from L’Appui’s website.

Note that this publication is more than 10 years old. It is due to be updated under Measure 31 of the 2021–2026 government action plan for caregivers.
